On Saturday, July 24th, 2021, Kristina Michiko Rohman, age 47, passed away from natural causes at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico surrounded by family.
Kristina was brought into this world May 20th, 1974 in Portland, Oregon to Ron and Karen (Okamoto) Rohman. She had an infectious smile and loved to make people laugh with her goofy and dramatic personality. Naturally, she fit right in with the school drama club, acting in numerous plays throughout her school years.
Kristina’s passion for helping others, especially children, led her down the path to becoming a teacher, receiving her bachelor’s degree in education from Western Oregon University. Along the way, she pursued her passion by being a daycare teacher, a nanny, missionary to Mexico, and volunteering abroad at an orphanage in Japan. After completing her degree, she joined the Peace Corps, volunteering in Cape Verde, off the west coast of Africa.
After spending two years in Africa, she returned to the states with a renewed focus on teaching under-privileged children. She moved to Gallup to join a teaching program while earning her Master’s degree from the University of New Mexico. During this time, she met her life partner, Arvin Morris and moved to Albuquerque to teach elementary school where they introduced their daughter, Yukiko Ann, to the world.
Feeling the importance of family, Kristina moved back to Gallup and continued teaching, but always felt she could be doing more for those in need. So she founded the nonprofit organization Kindred Souls Coaching with the goal to provide resources, coaching, and educational opportunities to empower youth and their families to recognize their full potential.
Kristina is survived by her Loving Partner, Arvin Morris; daughter, Yukiko Ann Morris; Parents: Ron and Karen Rohman; Siblings: Matthew, Timothy, Sumiko, Michael, Stephen, and David; as well as her many nieces and nephews.
